In January 2023, the ASD led an archaeology walking tour of Wildcat & Forest Landing.

Here are some thoughts from Steve Cox after the walk.
“I should’ve taken a picture!” as someone exclaimed later. I agree. We had so much fun that I forgot.
Saturday morning, eighteen people joined me for a walk in the woods. I presented information on the Quaker Hunn Family who had lived in Wildcat Manor for seven generations, on the Free Black Community at Hunntown, and on Forest Landing which was a key link in the Underground Railroad, and about the Native American millennia predating them all. We discussed the issues past, present, and future that face our diverse community as we seek to, not only preserve and present, but celebrate our heritage.
As a new friend that say said, “Such a unique place as this where blacks and whites worked together for freedom needs national park treatment. (Not an exact quote, but what I heard in a nutshell. The world hasn’t heard the last about this place.
THANK YOU for coming out on this chilly, gray, beautiful day!
Thank you, Dawn, Colin, Mike, and La Mar for your contributions, and to Craig, Dawn, Colin, Robin, Carol, Carolyn, Kate, Joann, Sue, Ed, Jill, and many, many others who “did” archaeology there.
